3 Tips For Protecting Your Online Privacy

With so much of our lives taking place online, it’s vital that everyone knows how to protect their online privacy and ensure that not too much of their sensitive information is shared online or given to people that would use this information to their downfall or detriment. And luckily, there are all kinds of things that you can do to help protect your own privacy and ensure that your loved ones have their privacy protected as well.

To help you learn how this can be done for you, your children, and your elderly loved ones in their senior living communities, here are three tips for protecting your online privacy.

Use A Browser Over The App

Saying to just stop using technology so that you don’t have to give it some of your personal information simply isn’t a possibility for most people. But luckily, there are ways that you can use these services so that not so much of your personal information is readily available for both the service providers and others who might hack into their systems.

To do this, you can simply use the browser version of whatever software you’re using instead of the app version. With the browser version, the software has less access to sensitive information that you’re housing on your devices. So if you delete the app and just use the browser version for the things you’re needing to do, you can save yourself from sharing a lot of your information.

Be Conscious Of What Information You Share

For many apps and software, you have to give them permission to have access to certain information. So when you’re offered to give them access to something, it’s best to deny this access or only allow access to things that you’re needing to use in specific instances, like only giving them access to your location for the duration of your current visit to the app or website.

Additionally, when you choose to post something online, make sure you’re aware of all of the possible information you could be sharing, like where you’re staying, what your home looks like, where you work, and other information that could be used by others in nefarious ways.

Apply The Most Stringent Security And Privacy Functions

Apps and websites all have privacy and security functions that you can cater to what you’re comfortable with when using this software. By default, they might be giving themselves more access to your information that you’d like. So when you start to use a new software, or even with old software that you’ve been using for years, go into your settings and beef up the privacy and security functions

If you want more privacy and security online, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you see how you can attain this.
